It’s all about the green here…whether jungle greenery or manicured golf greens, the lush topography of the region enchants you as it entertains you. For land-based adventures, there are miles of hiking and mountain biking paths that carve through the jungle, adventures to be had, or golf to challenge you…

Golf

Famous Jack Nicklause Signature 3b Hole

The centerpiece of golf in this region is the private Punta Mita Club de Golf, with its two Jack Nicklaus Signature Courses.

Pacifico, opened in December 1999, is an astonishing 19-hole championship course that features eight holes facing or playing along the ocean and each hole provides breathtaking ocean vistas. Its 19th Hole, an optional par-3 called the Tail of the Whale, plays 199 yards from a mainland tee box to an island green in Banderas Bay. The course plays between 5,037 and 7,014 yards.

Bahia, opened in November 2008, is designed similarly to Pacifico, with an abundance of rolling fairways and ocean vistas. As challenging as it is magnificent, the course measures 5,186 yards from the forward tees and 7,034 yards from the black tees.

The private golf club is open only to Punta Mita property owners, guests of the Four Seasons Resort, St. Regis Resort Punta Mita, and vacation rental guests.

Other courses are also available in the area, including the Greg Norman course at Litibu Golf Club, Vista Vallarta Club de Golf, El Tigre, Mayan Palace, and Flamingos.

On shore Jeep safaris, rainforest touring, horseback riding and more serve as the perfect pastimes.

Canopy Tours are among the most popular ways to spend a day in the natural beauty of the surrounding region. Adventurers visit a private eco-reserve in the heart of the tropical forest of the Sierra Madre Mountains. Traveling on a series of zip lines from platform to platform, people of all abilities are able to traverse high above the floor of the rainforest, enjoying remarkable sights including glorious flowers, colorful tropical birds and interesting reptiles.

The Jeep Safari takes you traveling in a specially designed Mercedes Benz SUVs into the Mexican outback of the Sierra Madre Mountains. You’ll venture through mountain streams and rugged terrain to “discover” forgotten villages and stand awestruck at the rainforest’s phenomenal flora and fauna.

Horseback riding is not only a pastime here, but a tradition. Since the time of the Conquistadors 400 years ago, charros (Spanish for cowboys) have been riding this region’s hillsides, valleys, beaches and rainforests. Traveling with bilingual tour guides, equestrian enthusiasts enjoy a day of exploring while learning the area’s diverse history and experiencing the natural landscape in an unforgettable way.
